Early in his life he went to 'Holy trinity Roman Catholic school' in Newark. At the age of 13, McGuiness went to Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance. He has a twin brother Tom and three other siblings. He attended the Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama (MADD), in the graduating class of 2009.
